Masoodi urges Indian govt to respect public mandate in IIOJK
Srinagar: National Conference (NC) senior leader and MLA Hasnain Masoodi has urged the Indian government to respect the public mandate in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and uphold democratic values.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Hasnain Masoodi, talking to reporters in Srinagar, called for the need for the Modi government to recognize the aspirations of the people and allow the democratically-elected government in the territory to function independently.
Highlighting the importance of historical days like July 13 Martyrs Day, he expressed hope that the government would respect public sentiment associated with such dates in the future.
Masoodi also expressed concern over recent court orders that mandate surveys of religious buildings or mosques, alleging that they violate the 1991 Religious Places Act and create divisions among communities. He described these measures as attempts to “cultivate hatred” and urged the public to reject divisive tactics. “This new method is designed to divide the people, and we must not allow it. It is not acceptable in any form,” he asserted.
