FMPHW stages protest in Srinagar, demands immediate release of salaries
Srinagar: Scores of Female Multi-Purpose Health Workers (FMPHW) staged a protest at Pratap Park in Srinagar, demanding the immediate release of their salaries, which have been pending for the past seven months.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the protesters carried placards and raised slogans, calling for justice and timely disbursal of their dues. “We have been working tirelessly, providing essential healthcare services, but for seven months, we haven’t been paid. How are we supposed to feed our families and educate our children?” questioned one protester.
Another protester told the media that the Health Minister, Sakina Itoo, had assured them that their pending salaries would be released soon. “The Health Minister herself gave us hope and even issued an official order to release our salaries but despite her intervention, the Chief Accounts Officer refused to honour the order. Why are we being made to suffer because of administrative negligence?,” Nasreen Akhtar, one of the protestors, said.
They threatened to hit the roads on a daily basis along with their children if their salaries are not released.
