AAP MLA found dead in Punjab under mysterious circumstances
Chandigarh: A Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) representing Ludhiana West constituency in India’s Punjab state was found dead with bullet injuries to his head.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the deceased AAP MLA has been identified as Gurpreet Gogi. The tragic incident occurred on Friday night. Gogi’s family members claimed that he accidentally shot himself while cleaning his licensed pistol at his residence. However, authorities have launched a thorough investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding his death.
A senior police official stated, “The incident is being treated with caution. While the family suggests it was an accidental discharge of the firearm, the official cause of death will be determined after a detailed forensic examination and autopsy.”
The 58-year-old MLA was rushed to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Hospital sources confirmed, “He was brought to the hospital unresponsive, and all efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.”
