Rajnath’s claims dismissed as baseless, distortion of Kashmir’s reality
Islamabad: Pakistan’s political leadership has unanimously rejected Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s assertions as “totally baseless and delusional.”
According to Kashmir Media Service, Rajnath Singh’s remarks were condemned as an attempt to distort the historical facts of the Kashmir cause and undermine the ongoing struggle for the right to self-determination in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Pakistan emphasized that such claims are part of a broader strategy by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to play the political appeasement card, particularly targeting Hindu elites, as it faces waning credibility and mounting criticism both domestically and internationally.
Rajnath Singh, while addressing a gathering in Akhnoor, Jammu, claimed that Azad Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India, referring to it as India’s “crown jewel” and asserting that it is a foreign territory to Pakistan. He further stated that India remains incomplete without Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Condemening the assertions, Pakistan made it clear that the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, as reflected in the recently-held IIOJK assembly elections, have overwhelmingly rejected the BJP’s narrative and false claims. Despite India’s repeated efforts to malign Pakistan and its security agencies, including the ISI, the international community is increasingly aware of India’s disinformation campaigns.
Pakistani leadership highlighted that India’s attempts to portray itself as a victim are aimed at masking its own blatant human rights violations in occupied Kashmir. The territory has seen a systematic crackdown on dissent, with the BJP government weaponizing draconian laws and resorting to oppressive measures against the local population.
India’s humiliating defeat in the Galwan Valley clash, where it lost control of 2,000 square kilometers of territory to China without a fight, has further tarnished the reputation of its armed forces. The BJP, struggling with multiple failures on both national and international fronts, is now resorting to falsehoods to divert attention from its mishandling of key issues.
Pakistan reiterated that India’s propaganda about Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) is nothing more than a smokescreen to deflect attention from its ongoing atrocities in IIOJK. The international community has a responsibility to hold India accountable for its actions and ensure that the long-standing Kashmir dispute is resolved in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
