Meerut: The arrest of a Muslim student for offering namaz at a private university in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut has once again highlighted the escalating religious persecution faced by minorities under the Hindutva-driven policies of the Modi regime.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Khalid Pradhan was arrested after Hindu extremist groups protested against a viral video showing students offering prayers on the university campus. The university administration swiftly suspended Pradhan and three security personnel while also calling for police action against him.
The case was registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Section 299 along with provisions of the Information Technology (Amendment) Act, 2008. The complaint was filed by an individual named Kartik Hindu, further reflecting the deep-rooted bias against Muslims in India’s legal and administrative system.
Observers note that the targeting of Muslim worshippers in educational institutions is part of a broader crackdown on religious minorities in India. Under Modi’s rule, the oppression of Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, and Dalits has surged drastically, with systematic efforts to suppress their religious freedoms.
