Imam Hussain’s (RA) sacrifice inspires freedom seekers worldwide: Ali Raza

Brussels: Chairman of Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU), Ali Raza Syed, has said that the supreme sacrifice of Imam Hussain (RA) serves as a timeless guiding light for all those who struggle for justice and freedom.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a statement issued in Brussels on the occasion of Ashura, he drew a parallel between the legacy of Karbala and the ongoing resistance in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
“The Day of Ashura reminds us of Imam Hussain’s (RA) unwavering commitment to truth and justice,” Ali Raza Syed said. “The people of Kashmir continue to resist Indian oppression with the same spirit of sacrifice and dignity taught by Karbala.”
He emphasized that the tragedy of Karbala is not just a religious event but a symbol of resistance against tyranny. “It teaches us to protect human dignity, uphold fundamental rights, and stand firm in the face of injustice,” he said, adding that Kashmiris have endured mass arrests, enforced disappearances, and widespread violence under Indian military occupation.
Ali Raza Syed reiterated that Kashmir’s struggle for self-determination is deeply inspired by the eternal message of Karbala. “Despite India’s siege and brutality, Kashmiris have not bowed down. Their resilience is a reflection of the lessons learned from Imam Hussain’s (AS) sacrifice,” he added.
Calling on the international community to break its silence, he urged global powers to play an active role in ending the oppression in Kashmir. He also called for the immediate release of Kashmiri political prisoners, including prominent leaders such as Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Yasin Malik, and human rights defender Khurram Parvez.
Highlighting Shabbir Shah’s deteriorating health, Syed appealed to the European Union and the United Nations to pressure India for his urgent release and ensure justice for all imprisoned Kashmiris.
