Grand rally in Muzaffarabad on Sunday
July 13, 1931, a defining moment in Kashmir's history: APHC-AJK

Muzaffarabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter, paying rich tributes to the martyrs of July 13, 1931, described the day as a turning point in the history of Kashmir when valiant Kashmiris sacrificed their lives while resisting the brutal Dogra rule in pursuit of freedom and justice.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the remarks were made during a news conference held in Muzaffarabad, the capital of AJK, in connection with Kashmir Martyrs’ Day. The day commemorates the 22 martyrs who laid down their lives on July 13, 1931. They were part of thousands assembled outside the Srinagar Central Jail during court proceedings against Abdul Qadeer, who had called for defiance against Dogra tyranny.
The speakers, including APHC-AJK chapter General Secretary Advocate Pervez Ahmed, senior Hurriyat leader Syed Yousuf Naseem, Opposition Leader in AJK Assembly Khawaja Farooq Ahmed, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Muzaffarabad city Raja Aftab, and Pasban-e-Hurriyat chairman Uzair Ahmad Ghazali, said that the sacrifices of these martyrs continue to inspire the ongoing struggle of the Kashmiri people against Indian occupation and tyranny.
They announced that a grand public rally will be held in Muzaffarabad on July 13, in which representatives of all political, religious and social parties, as well as people belonging to different schools of thought, will participate. They emphasized, “Kashmir Martyrs’ Day is not just a historical commemoration but a message of standing firm for the truth, making sacrifices and continuing the struggle for freedom.”

The APHC-AJK strongly appealed to the people of Muzaffarabad, refugees from Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir, students, lawyers, traders, scholars, journalists and people from all walks of life to participate in the rally to renew their commitment to the martyrs of Kashmir. They said the Indian forces have continued to deny the human, political and religious rights of Kashmiris even today and it is the duty of every Kashmiri to raise their voice against these atrocities.
Finally, the Hurriyat leaders urged the international community, the United Nations and global human rights organizations to take notice of Indian atrocities in IOJK and support the legitimate demand of the Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination.
