Indian forces raid residence of Dr Aziz in South Kashmir, seize mobile

Srinagar: Indian forces conducted a late-night raid at the Malaknag residence of Dr. Khalid Aziz Tak in South Kashmir district of Islamabad in connection with the Nowgam case registered at Nowgam Police Station in Srinagar.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the raids were conducted by a team of Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK). Officials said that during the raid, a female doctor, Priyanka Sharma, wife of Anirudha Kaushik and originally from Rohtak, Haryana, was found residing at the house on rent since October 2023. She is MBBS qualified and currently in her final year of General Medicine at GMC Islamabad.

During the search, the team seized a mobile phone along with its SIM card. The operation was conducted under the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act along with the Indian Arms Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Analysts note that raids like these form part of India’s intensified clampdown across occupied Kashmir, targeting professionals and ordinary citizens under the pretext of investigations linked to the Nowgam case, which has been widely criticized as an effort to intimidate the local population.
