India deliberately spreads confusion over Kashmir dispute: FO Spokesperson
Says right to self-determination of Kashmiris cannot be ignored
Islamabad: Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi has said that India has consistently sought to create confusion regarding the Kashmir dispute, falsely asserting that the issue has been resolved, a claim that is directly contradicted by United Nations resolutions.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Tahir Andrabi, while addressing a seminar on Kashmir in Islamabad, emphasized that Pakistan’s Foreign Office has persistently raised the Kashmir dispute at international forums. He reiterated Pakistan’s firm stance on the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, highlighting that the Kashmir dispute is directly linked to the broader issued of human rights.
He pointed out that in 1948, the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which also recognizes the right to self-determination. The Kashmir dispute, he said, has an internationally acknowledged legal status, and its resolution in pending.
The Foreign Office spokesperson further underscored that India continues to mislead the international community by claiming that the Kashmir issue has been resolved. However, he stressed that the right to self-determination remains a fundamental principle that cannot be ignored.
Tahir Andrabi affirmed that Pakistan will continue to extend political, diplomatic, and moral support to the Kashmiri people in their struggle. He added that following the May conflict between Pakistan and India, the Kashmir dispute has once again come under discussion at the United Nations, and the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people cannot be overlooked.
