Betrayal of Kashmiri people as BJP MP diverts IIOJK funds to Uttar Pradesh

BJP’s claims of prioritizing Kashmir stand exposed: Omar

Srinagar : In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has strongly criticized BJP Member of Parliament Ghulam Ali Khatana for diverting the bulk of his Constituency Development Funds (CDF) to the BJP-led Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, terming the move a betrayal of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Omar Abdullah revealed that out of Rs 11.52 crore allocated under the Constituency Development Fund, Rs 10.58 crore — approximately 94 percent — was reportedly spent on projects in Uttar Pradesh, while only Rs 94 lakh was allocated to Jammu and Kashmir.

Abdullah slammed what he described as the BJP’s “dual approach,” saying the party’s claims of prioritizing Kashmir stand exposed by its actions. “They speak about development and concern for Kashmir, but their conduct tells a different story,” he said, questioning the rationale behind nominating a representative from occupied Jammu and Kashmir if development funds are channeled elsewhere.

Leaders of the National Conference and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also criticized the decision, calling it an affront to the developmental needs of the territory, which continues to face serious economic and infrastructural challenges. They argued that diverting funds undermines the very purpose of representation and reduces it to mere symbolism.
