Regional stability at risk due to India’s proxy warfare, caution analysts

Islamabad: Political and defense analysts have raised serious concerns over India’s escalating involvement in proxy warfare and covert operations aimed at destabilizing Pakistan and the wider region.
According to Kashmir Media Service, analysts said that India’s intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), is involved in funding militant proxies, including the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), to carry out attacks on key infrastructure projects. They pointed to incidents such as the 2025 Jafar Express siege, terming it an attempt to deter foreign investment and undermine the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
They further referred to revelations reported by The Guardian, claiming that India has adopted a “kill-list” policy involving targeted assassinations beyond its borders. The analysts cited cases including those of Shahid Latif and Bashir Ahmad Peer as examples of extrajudicial actions carried out on foreign soil.
Discussing the regional dimension, analysts said that India is pursuing a “double game” in Afghanistan by providing support and advanced weaponry to banned militant outfits such as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), facilitating cross-border attacks in areas including Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan.
They also linked recent acts of violence, including a suicide attack targeting Islamabad’s judicial complex, to what they described as proxy networks backed by Indian handlers, aimed at undermining Pakistan’s governance and legal institutions. The analysts said the arrest of Kulbhushan Yadhav in Balochistan remains a key indicator of India’s involvement in espionage and subversive activities.
Referring to recent counter-terrorism operations, they added that investigations by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) have revealed networks where local individuals are recruited and radicalized to carry out attacks, creating layers of deniability. They further claimed that the pattern of such activities extends beyond Pakistan to countries like Canada and the United States, arguing that these developments point towards a broader strategy that violates international norms and threatens global security.
The analysts urged the international community to take serious notice of these terrorist activities and press India to adhere to international law and respect the sovereignty of other nations.
