Colonel of Indian Army Ordnance Corps arrested in bribery case
New Delhi: The heinous and unprofessional role of the Indian Army has once again been exposed before the world.
According to Kashmir Media Service, India’s prestigious newspaper “Hindustan Times” has exposed the ongoing systematic corruption and moral and institutional degradation in the politicized Indian Army.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, the Indian Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a colonel of the Army Ordnance Corps in a major operation in Kolkata while accepting a bribe of Rs 50 lakh. The arrested military officer, Colonel Himanshu Bali, was posted in the Army Ordnance Corps Eastern Command, Kolkata, who accepted a huge bribe of Rs 50 lakh from a private company in Kanpur.
Indian Colonel Himanshu Bali has been detained from Kolkata under the Prevention of Corruption Act and transferred to New Delhi for further investigation.
According to the FIR, Colonel Himanshu Bali and other military officers, in collusion, gave several important military tenders to favored companies in exchange for huge bribes, which has revealed large-scale corruption in the Indian defense system.
Reacting to this high-profile arrest, defence experts say that in the Indian army, which has become politicized during the Modi government’s era, growing irregularities and corruption have become a clear sign of its incompetence and professional decline. “Corruption in the Indian Armed Forces, especially the increasing accidents of Indian Air Force aircraft, are not just technical problems, but are clear evidence of deep-rooted corruption and administrative failures where quality is compromised.
Experts have warned that due to the ever-increasing corruption, financial scandals and nepotism, the Indian Armed Forces are currently suffering from severe internal disarray, mistrust and division.
