Medical college employees launch 2-day protest in Rajouri
Jammu: Non-gazetted employees of Government Medical College Rajouri have launched a two-day peaceful protest against the prolonged delay in framing Service Recruitment Rules, pending since 2019.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the protest saw participation from Nursing, Paramedical, Ministerial, and Multi-Tasking Staff, who termed the seven-year delay a serious setback to their professional growth and service security.
The agitation was led by employee representatives Sandeep Narania, Somesh Sudan, Vishav Sharma, and Abhishek Sharma on behalf of the Non-Gazetted Employees body of GMC Rajouri.
Addressing the gathering, protesting staff said the non-finalisation of recruitment rules has adversely impacted promotions, pay hierarchy, career progression, and other service-related benefits of thousands of employees working in newly established medical colleges across Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Employees said that administrative apathy under New Delhi’s bureaucratic rule has left them in limbo, with no clarity on job regularization or future prospects. “We are being denied our basic service rights while the administration makes hollow claims of development,” said one protester.
