Dutch PM raises concerns over press freedom, minority rights in India

New Delhi: Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten has raised concerns over press freedom and minority rights in India.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Jetten, speaking to the media in The Hague, expressed concern over a perceived slide in freedom of expression in India. Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant reported that Jetten, ahead of his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, told reporters that “the Dutch government, too, has concerns regarding developments in India… It is not just about press freedom, but also about the rights of minorities, which are under severe pressure there.”

The newspaper added that these concerns are “regularly raised” with the Indian government.
