Protest in Jammu seeks immediate restoration of IIOJK’s statehood

Jammu: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Mission Statehood activists staged a protest demonstration in Jammu, demanding the immediate restoration of statehood to the territory.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the protest was led by Mission Statehood president, Sunil Dimple, who flayed the dual policy of the BJP-led Indian government, saying New Delhi was ready to give special status, Article 371 protections, and statehood-like arrangement to Ladakh, while denying the same to IIOJK.

He said the elected representatives in IIOJK had failed to act effectively, adding, that “90 MLAs are useless” and should learn from Ladakh leaders.

Dimple urged Indian Prime Minister Modi to fulfil his promises made in the parliament regarding the restoration of statehood to occupied Jammu and Kashmir at the earliest.

He further said that although major political parties in IIOJK had included the restoration of Article 370 and statehood in their election manifesto, no concrete steps have been taken in this regard.
