APHC-AJK leaders slam India for land grab, demographic change in IIOJK

Islamabad: All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter leaders have strongly condemned India’s BJP-led Hindutva government for systematically seizing lands, properties and natural resources in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, thereby depriving the people of their basic rights.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a joint statement issued in Islamabad, Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoob, Engineer Mushtaq Mahmood and Mushtaq Ahmad Butt said that since the illegal and unilateral Indian actions of August 5, 2019, the situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir has become extremely grave. They asserted that India has failed to suppress the legitimate and peaceful freedom struggle of the Kashmiri people through brute force and will never succeed in doing so.
The Hurriyat leaders said India is continuously violating the UN Charter and Security Council resolutions that recognise the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir and the inalienable right of the Kashmiri people to self-determination.
They said the fascist Modi regime has intensified oppression, human rights violations, forced arrests and political vendetta in occupied Kashmir. Since Modi came to power in India, violence, hatred and discrimination against Muslims and other religious minorities have increased significantly not only in occupied Kashmir but across India.
The leaders said that India is carrying out demographic engineering and genocide in the occupied territory in clear violation of international law and the Fourth Geneva Convention.
Despite all Indian atrocities, state terrorism and repression, the morale of the Kashmiri people remains high and they are determined to achieve their inalienable right to self-determination, the statement said.
The Hurriyat leaders called upon the United Nations, international human rights organisations and the global community to take immediate notice of serious human rights violations by Indian forces in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and exert effective pressure on India to resolve the Kashmir issue in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
