IIOJK regime orders scrutiny of books in schools across Jammu region
Jammu: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the authorities have ordered a division-wide verification of all educational material in government schools, recognised private schools and coaching centres within seven days.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the order was issued by the Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ).
As per an official circular, Heads of Institutions have been instructed to inspect all publications in classrooms, libraries, laboratories, offices and staff rooms. The verification covers both newly supplied and existing books to ensure no material contains on the internationally-recognized disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Directorate said the exercise aims to ensure educational resources conform to the policies of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in India.
Institutions have been asked to submit compliance certificates to Zonal Education Officers by July 13. ZEOs will forward consolidated reports to Chief Education Officers by July 15, and CEOs will submit district-wise reports to the Directorate by July 17.
The circular warns that any negligence or delay will invite strict disciplinary action under service rules.
The verification drive comes after Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha suspended eight officials and directed that all educational material be thoroughly vetted.
Meanwhile, Indian police registered a criminal case and is continuing investigations, including searches in Jammu and Noida.
