Balochistan CM, APHC-AJK leader discuss Kashmir situation
Kashmir dispute must be resolved in accordance with UN resolutions: Sarfraz Bugti
Quetta: Chief Minister of Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti has reaffirmed that the Kashmir dispute remains an internationally recognized unresolved issue and that its just and lasting settlement lies in granting the Kashmiri people their UN-recognized right to self-determination.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mir Sarfraz Bugti made the remarks during a meeting with APHC-AJK leader Hassan Al-Banna in Quetta. The two discussed the prevailing situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the Kashmiri people’s ongoing struggle for their right to self-determination, and the overall regional situation.
During the meeting, Hassan Al-Banna appreciated the Government of Balochistan and Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti for expressing unwavering solidarity with the Kashmiri people and consistently raising the Kashmir dispute at different forums.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti said the Kashmir dispute must be resolved in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, stressing that lasting peace in the region cannot be achieved without enabling the Kashmiri people to exercise their fundamental right to self-determination.
He said the people of Pakistan and Balochistan have always stood shoulder to shoulder with the Kashmiri people and will continue to extend every possible political, diplomatic and moral support to their just cause.
The Chief Minister paid tribute to the unparalleled sacrifices of the Kashmiri people, saying they have kept their freedom movement alive despite prolonged repression and that their sacrifices will not go in vain. He urged the international community to take notice of the grave human rights violations in IIOJK and play a meaningful role in ensuring the implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.
