CIK raids multiple locations across IIOJK; residents harassed, documents and digital devices seized
Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK), a special wing of Indian police, has launched simultaneous raids at multiple locations across the territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the raids are being conducted in Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Shopian, Islamabad, and other districts in connection with a fabricated case dating back to 2023 and registered under the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Indian Penal Code.
Indian official claimed that the case relates to alleged use of online platforms to glorify militancy and influence individuals to join freedom organizations.
Reports said Indian police personnel, assisted by paramilitary forces, harassed residents, including women and elderly people, during the searches. They also seized bank and property documents, electronic devices, digital storage media and other materials.
The searches were underway when this report was filed, and further details were awaited.
Notably, Indian forces’ personnel and investigating agencies routinely carry out cordon and search operations and raids across IIOJK under various pretexts. Such operations are widely used as a means to suppressing dissent, intimidating the Kashmiris and coercing them into abandoning their demand for the internationally recognized right to self-determination.
