US Senate passes bill, paves way for 100pc tariff on various countries including India

Washington: The US Senate has approved an important bill, which has paved the way for 100 percent tariffs on various countries, including India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the media reports said this bill is related to further sanctions on Russia, Iran, India, China and Japan and some European countries may also come under it.
According to media reports, this bill will now go to the US House of Representatives for implementation.
The main purpose of the bill is to limit Russia’s energy revenues and increase economic pressure on Moscow due to the Ukraine war.
The bill authorizes US President Donald Trump to impose additional tariffs of up to 100 percent on countries that continue to buy Russian oil, gas or other key energy products.
India, China, Japan and some European countries could be hit by the ban, but the 100 percent tariff on those countries does not immediately take effect. The president must decide whether to use this authority.
