GB Speaker Imran Nadeem Shigri visits APHC office in Islamabad
People of IIOJK, GB linked by historic geographic, cultural ties: Safi

Islamabad: Speaker of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, Imran Nadeem Shigri, visited the Islamabad office of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC-AJK) chapter where Hurriyat Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi and other Hurriyat leaders accorded him a warm welcome.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the meeting discussed the latest situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and other matters of mutual interest. Both sides reiterated their resolve to continue joint political, public and diplomatic efforts for a just, peaceful and honourable settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
Ghulam Muhammad Safi welcomed Speaker Shigri and said the people of Gilgit-Baltistan and IIOJK are linked by historic, geographic and cultural ties. He praised Gilgit-Baltistan for its consistent solidarity with the Kashmir freedom movement and appreciated the unanimous Kashmir solidarity resolution passed by the GB Assembly on August 5, 2026. He said the Kashmir issue concerns the future of the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir and its lasting solution lies in UN resolutions and the will of the Kashmiri people.
Speaking on the occasion, Speaker Imran Nadeem Shigri said the people of Gilgit-Baltistan are fully aware of the 79-year history of the Kashmir dispute. He said the people of GB stand firmly with the people of IIOJK and will continue to support their just struggle for the right to self-determination. He said there was a need to further strengthen the bonds of love and unity between the people of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting concluded with special prayers for the success of the freedom struggle of the people of IIOJK, the elevation of martyrs, a just resolution of the Kashmir dispute and the security and stability of Pakistan.
