Hindu Sadhu threatens to bomb Muslim homes, asks them to leave India
Dehradun : A Hindu sadhu in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled Uttarakhand state has threatened Muslims with violence, asking them to leave India and go to a Muslim-majority country or have bombs planted in their homes.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a video of the sadhu has been circulating on social media in which he is heard issuing threats and making inflammatory comments targeting Muslims in the Kedarnath area.
In the video, the sadhu is heard telling Muslims to “pack their clothes and bags and go to a Muslim country,” and threatening that bombs would be planted in their homes if they did not comply. He is further heard threatening, “Muslims will also get beaten wherever they are found.”
The video has also raised concerns over whether threats of violence against a community can be dismissed as religious or political rhetoric, particularly when they explicitly invoke violence against civilians.
The remarks have drawn strong reactions on social media, with users urging authorities to verify the video and initiate legal action.
One user on X described the remarks as a threat against an entire religious community and wrote, “This is not a theological disagreement. It is a serious threat of violence against a religious community. India is a constitutional democracy. No citizen, whatever their religion, status or religious identity, has the right to threaten another community with bombs, assault or expulsion from the country.”
Another user questioned whether the authorities would respond with the same urgency if similar remarks were directed at by any Muslim. “There will be no arrest or case registered against him because he is targeting Muslims. Imagine the kind of onslaught by the Uttarakhand regime had it come out from the mouth of a Muslim.”
