Five dozens detainees shifted from Kashmir valley to Jammu jails

Srinagar: Indian authorities have shifted over five dozen political prisoners, including APHC leader Bilal Ahmed Siddiqi, from Srinagar Central Jail to Jammu jails in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, human rights groups and families report that the long-distance moves cause severe hardship as relatives struggle to travel long distances to visit the detainees.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference in a statement strongly denounced the move calling it a serious human rights violation of Kashmiri prisoners. The APHC said that the transfers to outside Kashmir valley make it difficult for prisoners to get proper legal help and medical care and their family members to visit them.
