‘Istisqa’ prayers held across occupied Kashmir

Srinagar: ‘Istisqa’ prayers were offered at Jamia Masjid Srinagar and various other mosques, dargahs, shrines and imambargahs of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, today, for relief from drought and bad weather conditions.

According to Kashmir Media Service, in these gatherings, the imams of the mosques and the scholars urged the people to seek forgiveness from Allah Almighty.

Anjuman Auqaf of Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, organized ‘Istisqa’ prayer immediately after the Friday Juma prayer, today, to seek respite from the dry spell. A large number of people participated and prayed to Allah in a compassionate manner for His mercy and blessings.

The Anjuman in a statement said the prevailing weather conditions in IIOJK and the severe drought in this season have affected the agriculture and horticulture sectors as well as causing severe hardship and suffering to the people. Not only the water reservoirs of Kashmir have dried up, but people are facing several problems in the form of various diseases, it said.

Meanwhile, senior APHC leader and President of Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman Sharie Shian, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, in a statement in Srinagar, terming the situation in occupied Kashmir as extremely alarming due to continuous drought, urged the people to pray for mercy rains at collective and individual levels.

He said due to the drought, there is not only concern among the people associated with agriculture, but also for the common man as there are fears of the spread of various diseases.
