Indian Supreme Court questions transparency in IIOJK Internet ban reviews
New Delhi: Indian Supreme Court has urged New Delhi to clarify its stance on the transparency of review orders related to the internet ban in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the court emphasized that while the deliberations may not need public disclosure, the actual orders resulting from the review process should be made accessible to the public.
The scrutiny comes amidst concerns about the prolonged and intermittent internet shutdowns in the territory, which have often been implemented on the pretext of security reasons.
However it is yet to be seen how this stance will influence Indian government policies on internet bans in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
