33pc criminal cases against “Rajya Sabha” members, 31pc billionaires
New Delhi: The 33 percent of the 225 members of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament, have admitted to having criminal cases registered against them, while the total assets of these sitting MPs are Rs 19,602 crore.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Indian organization Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) in a report said that 31 percent of these Rajya Sabha members are billionaires. The report said that 18 percent of these members of parliament have confessed to serious criminal cases, including murder and attempted murder.
The BJP is currently ahead with 90 of its Rajya Sabha members, while 50 percent of the Congress’s 28 MLAs are facing similar charges. In the ADR report, it is said that the TMC five out of 13 Rajya Sabha members (38 per cent), four out of six (67 per cent) of the RJD, four out of five (80 per cent) of the CPI-M admitted to having a criminal record in their affidavits.
