Pakistan rebuts Indian claim of Kashmir being its ‘Integral Part’
New York: Pakistan responded strongly to Indian claim of Kashmir being its integral part, asserting that repeating the wrong stance doesn’t make it acceptable internationally.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Pakistan’s delegate Gul Qaiser Sarwani during the general debate of the UN Disarmament Commission emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory, refuting India’s assertion.
Sarwani highlighted that Pakistan’s Ambassador Munir Akram’s remarks regarding Kashmir were relevant to the Commission’s work, as the situation in Kashmir, along with India’s military policies, has implications for regional and international peace and security.
Sarwani also raised concerns about Pakistan facing significant terrorism threats orchestrated, supported, and financed by India, which he labeled as a state sponsor of terrorism.
He reiterated Pakistan’s stance on the Kashmir dispute, emphasizing its presence on the UN Security Council’s agenda and advocating for an UN-supervised plebiscite to determine its final disposition.
Furthermore, Sarwani expressed Pakistan’s concerns over India’s emphasis on the Fissile Material Cut-off Treaty (FMCT) in the Conference on Disarmament (CD), stating that it disproportionately affects Pakistan’s national security interests.
He urged for flexibility and compromise from all delegations to break the deadlock in the CD, criticizing the lack of sincere efforts by the President to bring all member states on board.
Pakistan called on the international community to address attempts to undermine regional peace and security, highlighting their impact on disarmament efforts at both regional and global levels.
