Concern expressed over working day on Eid-ul-Fitr in IIOJK

Srinagar: The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum, Abdul Qayoom Wani, has expressed concern over the working day on Eid-ul-Fitr by the authorities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Abdul Qayoom Wani in a statement issued in Srinagar questioned the authorities for remaining silent over the grim issue on the occasion of festival of Eid-ul-Fiter and not issuing an order of holiday as the Eid holiday is subject to appearance of crescent.

The statement said that Shawwal moon was sighted in the occupied territory on 9th April, stating therein that the authorities remained strangely silent when people, particularly the employees, were eagerly waiting for the holiday order.

He said this silence still continues when the Grand Mufti of IIOJK had announced Eid celebration for 10th April and even LG Manoj Sinha greeted people on the occasion.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Employees Joint Consultative Committee (EJCC), Aijaz Ahmad Khan, in a statement in Srinagar urged the authorities to issue an order from General Administration Department (GAD) over Eid holiday on Wednesday for the employees of occupied Jammu and Kashmir Government to end the ongoing confusion.

He said confusion over Eid holiday on Wednesday started with IIOJK celebrating Eid on Wednesday along with Tamil Nadu and Kerala and rest of India celebrating it today on Thursday but surprisingly the IIOJK authorities did not issue any modification order.

He called upon both the Jammu and Kashmir administration and as well as the Jammu and Kashmir Bank to immediately issue an order to declare Wednesday a public holiday for Eid for the employees to end the confusion.
