BJP warns Muslims in Rajouri-Poonch belt: ‘Vote for our candidate or face 1947-like situation’
Jammu: In a disturbing development, BJP leaders have issued threats to Muslims including Paharis in Rajouri-Poonch belt of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, telling them to either vote for Sangh Parivar-backed candidate or be ready to face 1947 like situation when hundreds of thousands of Muslims were ruthlessly murdered by Hindu fanatics in the Jammu region.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has filed a written complaint with the Returning Officer (RO), Islamabad-Rajouri constituency, saying that BJP leaders were threatening Pahari Muslims in the Rajouri-Poonch belt to vote for Altaf Bukhari’s Apni Party. Notably, Altaf Bukhari is openly supporting Modi’s Hindutva agenda in IIOJK.
“Our party has lodged a written complaint with the RO against criminal intimidation by BJP leaders in Rajouri and Poonch, asking them to vote for Apni Party or face consequences like that of 1947,” PDP leader Firdous Tak said.
“It has come to our attention that there have been alarming instances of intimidation and threats targeting Pahari Muslims, aimed at influencing their voting choices,” Tak said in his complaint.
“Specifically, it has been reported that representatives of the BJP have been openly making threats towards Pahari Muslims, suggesting that a repetition of the events of 1947 could occur if they fail to vote for the candidate backed by the Sangh Parivar i.e Apni Party,” he said in his letter to the returning officer of the constituency.
Tak submitted a video with his complaint in which Poonch-based BJP leader Satish Bhargav is makiing threatening statements. “As an evidence I am enclosing a video footage of BJP meeting held in Mendhar area of Poonch where a BJP leader is threatening violence against Paharis to force them to vote for Apni Party or else they will create communal tensions reminiscent of the 1947 partition. “Such reprehensible tactics not only violate the principles of free and fair elections but also undermine the democratic process by instilling fear and coercion among the voters”.
He demanded a thorough investigation into such incidents of intimidation.
