Modi govt has launched assault on multiple fronts to erode IIOJK’s identity: Mehbooba
Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti has expressed concerns about BJP-led Indian government’s actions in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, saying that New Delhi has launched assault on multiple fronts to erode the territory’s core identity.
According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing a road show in Islamabad district, Mehbooba Muft said that the Modi government is snatching possessions of poor people and giving it to a select few capitalists. This is lethal for people, she added and urged people to wake up now to stop the current assault being launched on multiple fronts to erode Jammu and Kashmir’s core identity.
Mehbooba asked the National Conference and the Congress workers to understand the gravity of the situation and rise above party politics for the larger cause of people.
She said, “The ongoing elections in Jammu and Kashmir are not for any post or any chair but the raison d’être of these polls is to send a strong voice to the [Indian] Parliament that could represent the voice of the disenfranchised people of the region and tell those at the helm that what was done on August 5, 2019, was wrong and whatever was snatched away from the Kashmiris must be returned with interest”.
Mehbooba said, “The ongoing polls are about sending that voice to the Parliament that could expose those actions by virtue of which Jammu and Kashmir is being plundered of its rich wealth, its resources, its jobs, its lands, and more importantly its unique identity.”
“We will not allow that to happen at all costs”, she maintained.
