Mod regime has turned IIOJK into prison: Mehbooba Mufti
Jammu:Mehbooba Mufti, the Peoples Democratic Party president, has attacked the BJP-led Indian government, saying the Hindutva regime has turned occupied Jammu and Kashmir into a prison where freedom of speech is curtailed and people are repressed.
According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing a public meeting in Rajouri, Mehbooba Mufti said, “BJP converted Jammu and Kashmir into a prison. Nobody can talk freely here. Nobody is happy in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Neither Dogra of Jammu nor Buddhist of Ladakh are happy, forget about the people of Kashmir, who are terrorized”.
“Our assets are being sold. Power projects, lands, sand, sapphire mines, lithium deposits, and water resources have been given to outsiders. We get costly power while maximum power supply is generated from our resources,” Mufti said.
She asserted that the revocation of Article 370 had caused more harm than good. Objecting to the claims of development in J-K post abrogation of Article 370, she said, “Where is the development? Why has there been high unemployment in J&K for the last five years? All recruitments are ridden with scams.”
Mehbooba Mufti also dismissed Indian Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on restoring statehood to occupied Jammu and Kashmir as a mere rhetoric to win votes and said his party had snatched the region’s identity and knocked its people down.
Earlier, talking to reporters, Mufti said the BJP leader, who threatened Pahari Muslims in Poonch-Rajouri belt to vote for its proxies or face the 1947 situation, should be booked under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and sent to Delhi’s Tihar jail. “This is their real face… If someone else had said the same thing, he would have already been in Tihar jail,” she said. The PDP has also filed a complaint against the BJP’s Poonch-based leader Satish Bhargav for intimidation tactics.
