‘He was an embodiment of freedom struggle’: APHC-AJK pays homage to Ashraf Sehrai
Islamabad: APHC-AJK chapter paying homage to Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai on the eve of his third martyrdom anniversary has said that the Kashmiris will continue to see him as icon of resistance against Indian occupation.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the APHC-AJK chapter leaders in their statements in Islamabad said that Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai was a great freedom fighter and a strong proponent of Kashmiris’ right to self determination. They said the martyred leader will continue to live in the Kashmiris’ hearts for his sacrifices for the freedom cause. They pointed out that Sehrai’s death is a custodial murder as he was kept in death cell without any medical aid which resulted in his martyrdom. “India under a well-planned conspiracy is eliminating leaders of freedom movement to deprive the Kashmiris of their leadership”, they added.
The APHC AJK Convener Mehmood Ahmed Saghar maintained that Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai devoted his entire life to the Kashmiris’ freedom and sacrificed everything including his own life and his beloved son for the noble cause. “He (Sehrai) was tortured, imprisoned for years and persecuted for demanding basic rights of Kashmiris but remained firm and steadfast and never bowed down before the oppressor India”, he added.
Hurriyat leaders including Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Imtiaz Wani, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Syed Yousuf Naseem, Shameem Shawl, Altaf Hussain Wani, Muhammad Hussain Khateeb, Mir Tahir Masood, Advocate Parvez Ahmed, Hassanul Bana, Raja Khadim Hussain, Muhammad Shafi Dar, Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoob, Sanaullah Dar, Altaf Ahmed Bhut, Javed Iqbal Butt, Dawood Yousafzai, Chaudhry Shaheen Iqbal, Sheikh Abdul Majid, Gulshan Ahmed, Manzoor Ahmed Dar, Zahid Safi, Mushtaq Ahmad Butt, Zahid Ashraf, Adeel Mushtaq Wani, Abdul Majeed Lone, Syed Kifayat Hussain Rizvi, Muhammad Sultan Bhat, Nisar Mirza, Syed Mushtaq, Manzoor Ahmed Dar, Nazir Ahmed Karnai, Muhammad Ashraf Dar, Raies Ahmed Mir and Syed Manzoor Ahmad Shah, said that the death of Ashraf Sehrai would not be allowed to be forgotten and his mission would be accomplished at all costs.
The APHC-AJK leaders said, India must remember that it can kill Kashmiris but cannot defeat their passion for freedom. The day is not far when the heroic struggle of valiant Kashmiris will succeed and their supreme sacrifices will bear fruit and they will get rid of the curse of Indian slavery, they added.
They appealed to the United Nations and other international human rights organizations to take cognizance of the Indian atrocities on the Kashmiris, especially the illegal detention of Hurriyat leaders and activists in different jails of IIOJK and India whose lives are in danger.
