Seminar highlights plight of IIOJK mothers awaiting disappeared sons
Islamabad: Leaders of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference AJK chapter have shed light on the anguish of thousands of mothers in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir who await the return of their sons missing in the custody of Indian troops.
According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing a seminar organized on the occasion of International Mother’s Day, APHC-AJK leaders emphasized the ordeal faced by those detained in various jails, yearning for the safe return of their sons.
Under the chairmanship of APHC-AJK Convener Mahmood Ahmed Saghar, the seminar highlighted the resilience of Kashmiri women against Indian brutalities, with particular emphasis on the oppression and torture they endure at the hands of Indian soldiers and police officers.
Saghar reiterated that Kashmiri women are among the worst affected by Indian state terrorism, having witnessed their loved ones targeted by Indian bullets. The speakers condemned India’s use of oppression against women as a tool of war, citing numerous examples of humiliation and violence perpetrated by Indian forces in occupied Kashmir.
Other speakers brought attention to the plight of Kashmiri women who have lost husbands, sons, and brothers to Indian aggression, with many still enduring imprisonment for demanding their right to self-determination. The leaders appealed to the international community, urging the United Nations and other women’s rights organizations to address the hardships faced by Kashmiri mothers.
The seminar was attended by prominent figures including Mahmood Ahmed Saghar, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Muhammad Rafiq Dar, Altaf Hussain Wani, Imtiaz Wani, Mrs. Shamim Shall, Muhammad Hussain Khateeb, Nasar Mirza, Advocate Parvez Ahmed, were present in the meeting.
