Sultan directs establishment of Kashmir Studies Institutes in AJK varsities
Dr Fair calls for Kashmir settlement through implementation of UN resolutions
Muzaffarabad: AJK President Barrister Sultan Mohammad Mehmood Chaudhry has ordered the establishment of fully functional Kashmir Studies Institutes in each university of Azad Kashmir to highlight various aspects of Kashmir culture and Kashmir dispute to the outside world.
According to Kashmir Media Service, his direction came during a meeting with him by Secretary General of Kashmir-American Awareness Forum Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai the world renowned Kashmiris rights movement leader. Present on the occasion were Chairman High Education Commission of Pakistan Dr. Mukhar Ahmed and Vice-Chancellors of AJK universities Dr Mohammad Kaleem Abbasi, Brig Rtd Dr Mohammad Yunis Javed, Dr Zakriya Zakir, Dr Abdul Hameed, Dr Rehmat Ali and other top educationists.
AJK President recounted a wide range of atrocities being committed by India against the people of occupied Kashmir. He said that India was doing terrorism not only in occupied Kashmir but was also involved in killing of Sikhs including one in Canada. This, he said, shows India has exported its home made terrorism abroad for revenge killings of its political opponents.
Barrister Sulan said the purpose of the establishment of the Azad Kashmir government was to highlight the Kashmir issue internationally to pave the way for freedom of occupied Jammu and Kashmir from Indian clutches.
The AJK President said that the dream of getting progress cannot be realized without education. The universities of AJK, he stressed, should utilize all the energies to raise the education quality as par with the international standard. He said, the role of teachers in making the society is very important but on the other hand the students also should play their proactive role by adopting the habit of hard work and commitment to their studies.
Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai recalling the Kashmir dispute projection at the international level by AJK President Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry paid him rich tributes for his untiring role. Dr Fair reiterated implementation of Kashmir dispute UN resolutions to restitute Kashmiris self-determination right. He urged world human rights fora to take serious notice of massive human rights violations being resorted to by the Indian occupation forces.
Barrister Sultan gave away degrees and medals among the successful students.
