Mufti, Abdullah interpret voter turnout as resounding message to Delhi against 2019 decision
Srinagar: Mehbooba Mufti, the chief of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has said that the voter turnout during the Monday’s polling for the Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency signifies the people’s discontent with the annulment of Article 370 and the division of occupied Jammu and Kashmir into two so-called union territories.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mufti remarked that the voter participation in the Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency polls serves as a rebuke to the Modi-led Indian government’s decisions regarding Jammu and Kashmir.
“The polling conveyed a message to Delhi that the decisions made in 2019 and thereafter concerning our land, state subjects, and jobs are not acceptable to the people of [occupied] Jammu and Kashmir,” she expressed to reporters in Qazigund, Islamabad-Rajouri Lok Sabha constituency.
Meanwhile, National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah decried the lack of democracy in occupied Kashmir. Addressing a workers’ convention in Teetwal and Tangdhar areas, he expressed dissent against the decisions of the Indian government, particularly those made post August 5, 2019.
Additionally, he criticized the delimitation process, asserting that it has caused distress among the local population.
