Srinagar: The BJP-led Indian government and its puppet regime in occupied Jammu and Kashmir are attempting to mislead the world by using their pliant media to publish fake reports about the so-called peace and development in the occupied territory.

According to Kashmir Media Service, this was stated by some Srinagar-based political analysts and those closely watching the situation in IIOJK. They spoke to media on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals by the Indian government. They said that the Hindutva BJP government cannot hide the reality about the worsening situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir by distorting truth and twisting facts through its propaganda media and social machinery.

They said the BJP regime is propagating that a new era of the so-called peace and development has started in IIOJK especially after 2019 illegal scrapping of Article 370 and 35 A. By doing so, they said, New Delhi also aims to divert the attention of the international community from its atrocities and ulterior motives in IIOJK.

The truth of the matter, the analysts and Kashmir watchers said, is that Indian government’ 5 August 2019 illegal move has put IIOJK into a reverse gear in all spheres of life. They maintained that the illegal actions of 5 August 2019 and other tyrannical measures taken afterwards by the Indian government have added to the miseries of the Kashmiri people and further aggravated the already volatile situation in the south Asian region. They added that no sane investor will even think of investing in occupied Jammu and Kashmir which is a nuclear flashpoint in the region.

A political analyst in Srinagar said that “a sense of security in any place does not come with conferences”, adding the so-called Indian parliamentary election was “like putting a lid on our miseries”. He said, “We are suffering silently and we feel cut off from the buzz outside. We are just surviving each day”.

The political analysts and Kashmir watchers said the people of IIOJK are not against development but their foremost demand is peace and freedom by holding of plebiscite under the supervision of the United Nations. They also stressed that lasting peace and prosperity in the South Asian region is impossible till the resolution of Kashmir dispute according to the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir as enshrined in the UN resolutions.

They said the greatest strength of the people of Jammu and Kashmir is unity of the people. Cautioning people against the efforts aimed to draw a wedge between different communities, they said, “Diversity of J&K is tremendous. There are certain common links and unifying bonds that keep varied sections of our society together. All of us are worried for our identity, our culture and our dignity”.

Even the local political parties also said that the BJP government snatched jobs and lands of the locals and offered contracts of various development projects to the outsiders (non-Kashmiri), causing severe setback to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The Kashmiris were feeling cheated and are frustrated lot now, they added.
