So-called security beefed up in IIOJK districts ahead of sham polls

Srinagar: Modi-led Indian government has put stringent measures in place and deployed additional forces’ personnel in Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora and Budgam districts of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir in the guise of maintaining so-called security ahead of another round of Indian parliamentary elections in the territory.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Baramulla parliamentary constituency, spanning across Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, and select areas of Budgam district, is set to go to polls in the fifth phase on May 20.

Though Indian officials are claiming that these extra security measures have been taken to ensure peaceful polling yet those closely watching the situation in IIOJK say that the actual aim is to intimidate the Kashmiris into voting for those parties aligned with the Hindutva BJP.

Crucial meetings were held in Kupwara, Sopore and other areas, chaired respectively by Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) and officers from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF).

The occupation authorities have strategically deployed additional forces in key areas to bully the Kashmiris. Reportedly, the authorities are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to achieve their nefarious goal.
