Omar Abdullah vows to continue fight to restore Kashmiris’ scrapped rights

Srinagar: The National Conference Vice President, Omar Abdullah has vowed to continue the peaceful and democratic struggle for restoration of scrapped rights of the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing a rally at Damhal Hanjipora in Kulgam district, Omar Abdullah urged the public to reject anti-Kashmir forces, questioning how parties which are associated with the BJP can protect the unique character of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

“Today, the doors of employment are closed for our youth, our land is being taken away through various pretexts, no one dares to speak the truth, freedom of expression is restricted, the youth are being picked up from here and locked up in the prisons of foreign states,” he said.

The NC leader said, “We have started a peaceful and democratic struggle for the restoration of our democratic rights. We were once sold like cattle…. Today, we face economic and political slavery again, and it is the duty of every conscious citizen to protect our historical state.”

“We are fighting for the entire nation, advocating for the release of all prisoners held in jails outside J&K,” he said.

Omar Abdullah said that the BJP and agencies from New Delhi and Nagpur were trying to weaken the National Conference. He urged voters to counter their conspiracies with their votes on May 25 (tomorrow). It is worth mentioning that Islamabad-Rajouri parliamentary seat is going to polls tomorrow. It comprises 18 assembly segments — 7 in Islamabad district, 4 in Rajouri, 3 each in Kulgam and Poonch, and 1 in Shopian.

He also hit out at the BJP for carrying out anti-Muslim manifesto during election campaigns across India.
