Srinagar: Indian troops have escalated violent cordon and search operations in various areas of the Jammu region in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, accompanied by paramilitary, Special Operations Group (SOG), and Village Defence Guard (VDG) personnel, the troops continued house raids and searches in Reasi, Kathua, Doda, Rajouri, Poonch and Samba districts.
More than 100 people, predominantly Muslims, have been detained and interrogated during the operation over the past few days. The joint search efforts by the Indian Army, Central Armed Police Forces (CAFP), and SOG personnel encompassed both villages and dense forests, according to a police official.
It is worth mentioning here that the troops have been conducting violent CASOs in IIOJK for the past many months, under the pretext of suspicious movements. The operations have resulted in harassment and intimidation of Muslim inmates, with troops urging them to act as informers against pro-freedom activists.
