EU urged to play role in resolving Kashmir dispute

Islamabad: Chairman of Kashmir Council Europe, Ali Raza Syed, highlighted the European Union’s influence and commitment to peaceful solutions, emphasizing the significant role the powerful bloc can play in resolving the Kashmir dispute peacefully.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Ali Raza Syed was speaking at a reception held in his honor at a hotel in Islamabad. The event was hosted by senior journalist and intellectual Mohsin Raza Khan, with journalist Ali Farqan serving as the moderator. Prominent attendees included Afzal Butt, President of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists, Prof. Mohammad Saeed, Prof. Tahir Naeem Malik, and various journalists from television channels and newspapers.

Ali Raza Syed stated that they made significant efforts to raise awareness about the Kashmir issue, particularly the human rights abuses faced by the oppressed Kashmiris, during the recent European Parliament election campaign. He mentioned meeting leaders of political parties, key European figures, and active election candidates to inform them about the background and current situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He asserted that India cannot suppress the Kashmiris’ freedom movement through brute force and expressed confidence that the struggle will eventually succeed, leading to Kashmir’s freedom from Indian bondage. He also thanked media professionals and social media activists for their efforts in highlighting the Kashmir dispute.

During the ceremony, Muhammad Afzal Butt praised the awareness campaign led by Kashmir Council Europe in the European Union and acknowledged the organization’s crucial role in bringing attention to the Kashmir dispute under Ali Raza Syed’s leadership. Host Mohsin Raza Khan also expressed gratitude to Ali Raza Syed and other participants for their contributions to the event.
