Hindu group kills Muslim man in Maharashtra
Mumbai: A Hindu group mercilessly beaten to death a 46-year-old Muslim man in Maharashtra state.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a Hindu youth and two of his accomplices mercilessly beat up and killed a 46-year-old Muslim man, identified as Zakir Miya Shaikh, in Thane district for opposing a proposal for an inter-faith marriage of his daughter.
The victim Zakir Miya Shaikh was celebrating the Eid feast with his family when a Hindu group led by Avinash Khairat barged into his house and started beating the occupants, including Zakir Miya Sheikh and the two women present in the house. Zakir Miya Sheikh was rushed to a hospital with severe injuries where he breathed his last the following day.
The Hindu Khairat was forcibly attempting to disgrace his daughter and wanted to marry her. Zakir Miya Sheikh was vehemently against interfaith marriage.
According to the police, the three men entered Sheikh’s three-storey residence, hurling derogatory remarks at him. They then assaulted him with sharp-edged weapons and sticks.
Zakir Miya Shaikh was known for his kindness in the community.
