IIOJK Congress stages protest in Jammu over exam scams across India

Jammu: The Congress chapter in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) held a massive protest demonstration in Jammu against recent exam scams across India under BJP rule.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the IIOJK Congress chapter’s protest in Jammu city was a part of India-wide Congress campaign against the NEET [National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test] and UGC NET [University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test] exam scams.

The protestors, led by IIOJK Congress chapter president Vikar Rasool Wani, demanded action against those responsible and called for the resignation of Indian Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

A large gathering of Congress leaders, workers, and students participated in the protest, raising slogans against the Modi government and burning its effigy. They decried the scams as a significant injustice to India’s students and youth, demanding justice for the 24 lakh affected individuals.

Vikar Wani criticized the BJP government for failing to prevent the scams, adding the government was responsible for spoiling the future of students. He also questioned Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on the issue, especially given the widespread student protests.

The IIOJK Congress has called for a law to prevent future exam scams and has threatened to intensify protests if the Modi government does not take action.

Notably, scandals related to irregularities and malpractices in the NEET and UGC NET examinations have caused widespread concern, leaving lakhs of students facing uncertainty. NEET, a medical entrance test, and UGC-NET, which determines eligibility for Lectureships and Junior Research Fellowships, have both been plagued by allegations of paper leaks, inflated marks, and arbitrary grace marks. For weeks, thousands of students have protested across India against the exam scams, and opposition parties have demanded a Supreme Court-monitored investigation.
