Indian army soldier commits suicide in IIOJK
Srinagar: An Indian army soldier committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in the forward area of Gurez in Bandipora district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the soldier, identified as Raju Karajagi, a resident of Bijapur, Karnataka, took his own life by firing his service rifle inside his unit in Buruab area of Gurez in the district.
The reasons behind the soldier’s extreme step are not known yet. However, it is believed that the soldier was under mental stress and was struggling to cope with the pressure of his duties.
This incident is not an isolated one, as a total of 602 Indian forces’ personnel have taken their lives in the occupied territory since January 2007.
The mental health of soldiers deployed in the occupied territory has been a cause of concern for many years.
