Engineer Rashid takes oath as member of Indian Parliament

New Delhi: Engineer Abdul Rasheed, who won the Baramulla parliamentary seat in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, was today sworn in as member of the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Engineer Rasheed was brought from New Delhi’s infamous Tihar jail to the Parliament House this morning. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla administered the oath of office to Engineer Rashid.

It should be remembered that Delhi’s Patiala House Court granted parole to the engineer to take oath on July 2 with the consent of the Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA) and was not allowed to speak to the media during that time. Some other conditions were also imposed.

He had approached the court for interim bail or alternatively custodial parole to take oath and perform his parliamentary duties.

The Modi government has kept Engineer Rasheed in Tihar jail in a false case. He contested the election from jail and won with an overwhelming majority. He has defeated Omar Abdullah of National Conference by a margin of more than 200,000 votes.

It should be remembered that Engineer Rasheed talks about the referendum in Jammu and Kashmir. By making them successful, the Kashmiris have actually given a clear message to India that it should give Kashmiris their usurped right to self-determination.
