Congress in IIOJK will launch agitation against Modi’s anti-people policies
Jammu: The Indian National Congress chapter in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir will launch an agitation from tomorrow against the anti-people policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Modi government.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in charge IIOJK affairs of the party Bharatsinh Solanki and the President of Indian National Congress chapter in the territory, Vikar Rasool Wani talking to the media persons declared that Congress will launch agitation at all the districts against the policies of the BJP government, including granting more powers to the Lt Governor.
“We will also press for the restoration of Statehood before the Indian Supreme Court’s September 30 deadline for the holding of Assembly elections,” they said.
“Giving powers to Lt Governor means rendering an elected government powerless. BJP has already destroyed this historic territory by snatching Statehood, special status and other rights,” they added.
They said the Congress wants restoration of full statehood before the holding of Assembly elections in occupied Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with the Indian Supreme Court set deadline.
“There is a difference between saying and doing in BJP. They are utilising power to remain in power so that they can exploit the people and the resources of Jammu and Kashmir,” the Congress leaders said.
They also criticised the BJP government for giving unbridled powers to Lt Governor of occupied K ahead of the Assembly elections and said such an elected Government in the territory would be like a Municipality with the Chief Minister having virtually ‘no powers’.
Reacting on winning nine seats by INDIA Bloc in the recently held by-elections out of total 11, the Congress leaders said BJP could secure just 2 seats and it is going to happen in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. “The people want change and it is happening gradually,” they maintained.
