Indian police arrest Kashmiri under draconian PSA in Ramban
Jammu: Indian police have arrested a person in the Ramban district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, booking him under the draconian Public Safety Act (PSA).
According to Kashmir Media Service, the detained person has been identified as Ghulam Nabi, son of Abdul Rehman, a resident of Bhimdassa, Gool in the district. He has been lodged in District Jail Jammu.
The police defended the action by claiming that Nabi has been placed under preventive detention for his alleged involvement in anti-India activities, a common justification used to target Kashmiris. They added that the arrest followed the preparation of a comprehensive dossier on Nabi, which was forwarded to the District Magistrate Ramban for approval.
Notably, the pliant judiciary often aligns with the occupation authorities in such cases, providing little recourse for the detained Kashmiris. This pattern of judicial compliance has left people in IIOJK feeling helpless and persecuted. The arrest of Ghulam Nabi under the PSA is yet another example of the systemic use of legal frameworks to suppress dissent and intimidate the Kashmiris.
