IIOJK authorities force employees to attend Indian I-Day events amid Kashmiris boycott
Srinagar: In a bid to counter the general public’s boycott of India’s Independence Day events in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the occupation authorities have ordered all government employees in Srinagar and Jammu to attend the main events on August 15.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the General Administration Department has issued a directive making it compulsory for all officers and officials in IIOJK to participate in the Independence Day functions at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar, or Maulana Azad Stadium, Jammu, as part of their official duties.
The order stresses that attendance is mandatory and extends to all administrative secretaries, department heads, and executives of public sector undertakings, who are responsible for ensuring compliance among their staff.
This move comes as a response to the Kashmiris disinterest in participating in Indian Independence Day activities.
By forcing government employees to attend, the IIOJK administration aims to fill the venues and project a sense of celebration, despite the prevailing sentiments of discontent among the local population. The directive is seen as an attempt to create a false narrative of enthusiasm and participation in the face of widespread boycotts by the Kashmiri people.
