‘Sham elections cannot be substitute for referendum’

Muzaffarabad: Chairperson of Muslim Conference (women wing) and Kashmir Women Alert Forum Samia Sajid has called the polling in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir in three phases from September 18 by India as a fraud and sham election.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Samia Sajid talking to the media in Muzaffarabad called for a referendum under the supervision of the United Nations, European Union, the OIC and other international observers. Sham elections can never be a substitute to plebiscite, she added.

She said that announcement of the sham polls in the occupied territory is an attempt to deceive the international community and divert attention from the successive defeats and fierce public resistance in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

She proposed to Pakistan Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to convene a national conference on Kashmir comprising the Kashmiri leadership of both sides without delay.

Samia Sajid said India has been using new tactics to harass Pakistan and make hateful conspiracies against the Kashmir freedom movement

The strength, prosperity and stability of Pakistan is an integral part of the faith of Kashmiris and black laws, curfew, lockdown and the worst human rights violations cannot prevent the Kashmiri people from their struggle for right to self-determination, she added.
