Indian election drama in IIOJK can never substitute a UN-mandated referendum: APHC-AJK
Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has asserted that Jammu and Kashmir remains an internationally recognized disputed territory, and the ongoing so-called assembly elections held there are no substitute for a UN-mandated referendum to determine the region’s political future.
In a statement issued today in Islamabad, the APHC-AJK chapter highlighted that India has illegally occupied a significant portion of Jammu and Kashmir, which has persisted for last 77 years, during which the Kashmiri people have endured immense sacrifices. It stressed that the Kashmiris have never accepted the unlawful Indian occupation and remain committed to continuing their struggle until achieving their sacred goal of freedom.
The APHC-AJK also paid tribute to the sacrifices of prominent leaders such as Syed Ali Gilani and Burhan Wani, along with countless other martyrs, describing them as invaluable assets to the freedom movement. The statement underscored that it is the duty of every Kashmiri to protect these sacrifices.
Furthermore, the APHC-AJK urged the Kashmiri people to remain vigilant against Indian machinations and to foster greater unity and solidarity within their ranks. This unity, it stressed, is essential to countering any attempts to undermine the freedom movement.
