Congress slams BJP for looting in the guise of development in IIOJK

Jammu: The Congress chapter in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) has strongly criticized the BJP-led Indian government for its exploitation under the pretext of development, while neglecting the fundamental issues faced by the people.

According to Kashmir Media Service, in a meeting held in Jammu, IIOJK Congress General Secretary Taranjit Singh Tony said that the Indian government was enabling mafias and ignoring the genuine concerns of the local population. “The government is more focused on exploiting the people in the guise of development, while failing to address their basic needs,” Tony asserted.

He said that the BJP has been protecting land, liquor, and contractor mafias operating in IIOJK, mostly from outside the region. Tony also slammed the government for giving employment opportunities to outsiders, citing the repeated cancellation of recruitment exams as evidence of New Delhi’s disregard for local youth.

“The installation of Smart Meters is merely another tactic to siphon off the hard-earned money of the people. Instead of improving the city’s infrastructure with functional drainage systems and other essential amenities, the government is making life more difficult for ordinary citizens,” Tony said.

He concluded by urging the public to support Congress in the upcoming Assembly elections, promising to rid the territory of a mafia-protecting government.
